Young R&G talents gain valuable experience in Europe
Six promising young players from South America took advantage of a unique opportunity, as part of the partnership with Red&Gold Football, to participate in trial sessions at renowned European clubs. The young talents from R&G partner clubs Racing de Montevideo and SD Aucas were able to not only demonstrate their skills but also gain valuable insights into European soccer.
Three players from Racing de Montevideo – Samuel Gallo, Thiago Fernandez, and Nelson Correa – spent ten days with each, Grasshopper Club Zurich and FC Wacker Innsbruck. At the same time, Dalember Palma, Nicolás Sotomayor, and Adonys Quiñónez from SD Aucas spent ten days at GC Zurich. In Zurich, the young talents trained with the U19 and U21 teams, while in Innsbruck they had the chance to compete with the professional squad.
A special highlight of the visit was the friendly match between FC Wacker Innsbruck and the U21 team of Grasshopper Club Zurich, where the young talents were able to showcase their skills in a direct comparison.
Trial sessions of this kind are a central component of the Red&Gold Football philosophy: they enable young players to gain new inspiration, prove themselves at the international level, and gain important experience for their further development. At the same time, they offer European clubs the chance to assess the quality of South American talent. In the past, such stints have paved the way for players like Anderson Rodriguez and Mauro Marichal, who moved from Racing de Montevideo to FC Wacker Innsbruck.
