Munich/ Los Angeles/ Mandinari – Red&Gold Football has acquired a majority stake in the Gambinos Group, underlining its ambition to sustainably promote African talent for professional football in Europe and the United States. The Gambinos Group consists of the academies Gambinos Stars Africa (Gambia), Senegal Elite Stars (Senegal), and Phoenix Sports Association (Cameroon).
Through its engagement to date, talents from the group have already attracted initial interest from European second- and first-division clubs. For example, Bara Sapoko Ndiaye is currently part of the professional squad of FC Bayern. Going forward, all football schools will benefit from the sporting expertise and international network that Red&Gold Football can provide.
Jochen Sauer, Managing Director of Red&Gold Football: “We have been cooperating very successfully with the Gambinos Group since July 2023. The acquisition is an opportunity for all of us to support the many talents in the academies even more intensively and individually, and to further develop them for professional football in the USA and Europe. I would like to thank Helmut Hack and his team for the trust they have placed in us and look forward to exciting years of cooperation.”
Helmut Hack, founder and co-shareholder of the Gambinos Group: “Since the beginning of our cooperation, we have developed very successfully at all levels. We are now creating the conditions to offer our talents an even better platform for their development.”
About the Gambinos Group
The Gambinos Group is an association of three academies: Gambinos Stars Africa (Gambia), Senegal Elite Stars (Senegal), and the Phoenix Sports Association (Cameroon). The academies were founded by Helmut Hack, former president of SpVgg Greuther Fürth, second vice president of the German Football League (DFL), and former board member of the German Football Association (DFB).
The Gambinos Group aims to become a center of excellence for West African talent through its locations in Gambia, Senegal, and Cameroon.
Gambinos Stars Africa, Senegal Elite Stars, and the Phoenix Sports Association became official cooperation partners of Red&Gold Football in July 2023. In March 2026, Red&Gold Football became the majority shareholder of the Gambinos Group.
